Mobility within Europe

Discover the diversity of European education and culture through intra-EU mobility:

  • Students and staff move between European universities holding the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education (ECHE) and having Inter-Institutional Agreement signed
  • Institutions exchange expertise and innovate in education
  • Every mobility experience contributes to inclusion, digital transformation, and sustainability

Erasmus+ helps shape a connected, green, and digital Europe by empowering both individuals and institutions.

Mobility beyond Europe

Erasmus+ goes global. It offers mobility and cooperation opportunities with third countries not associated to the programme outside the EU, supporting international outreach and capacity building in higher education.

Examples of international engagement:

  • The Erasmus+ programme enables Polish students and staff to study and teach at institutions across the globe, and students and staff from universities around the world to come to Poland.
  • Through these actions, Erasmus+ strengthens international cooperation, mutual understanding, and academic excellence worldwide.
  • Polish Higher Education Institutions cooperate with partner universities from almost all countries around the world. The scope of cooperation varies and should be checked at given institution.
  • Approximately 4,000 outgoing and incoming student and staff mobilities are planned under each annual call for proposals.

Cooperation & Innovation Opportunities

Beyond mobility, Erasmus+ fosters deeper collaboration and systemic change in higher education through a range of international initiatives:

Partnerships for Cooperation

„Partnerships for Cooperation” in the field of higher education are administered by the National Agency relevant to the leader of the consortium. The project must aim at development and introduction of the educational change/innovation in the consortium members. Polish HEIs realise a number of “Partnerships for Cooperation”. Examples of projects accepted so far by the Polish NA are available at the Projects Results Platform.

Capacity Building in Higher Education

Capacity Building in Higher Education supports international cooperation between higher education institutions in Europe and partner countries around the world. Benefits from this cooperation are addressed primarily to higher education institutions in the partner countries not associated with the Programme.

This action helps universities in third countries not associated with the programme to improve teaching quality and strengthen management and governance in their higher education.

Through these projects, institutions share knowledge, develop innovative curricula, promote inclusiveness and build lasting academic partnerships that foster global progress and mutual understanding.

Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’s (EMJM)

Joint master’s programmes delivered by at least three institutions from at least three different countries. They offer prestigious joint or multiple degrees. Details of study programme, other conditions related to recruitment, type of diploma offered upon completions of studies, number of grants available for students and conditions to obtain them varies and must be checked at the webpage of a given study programme.

European Universities Alliances

Consortia of universities of similar type or offering similar study programmes, working together across borders to develop joint curricula, foster interdisciplinary education, and create a truly European learning experience. So far the Polish higher education institutions have been a member of 32 Alliances. Their further work is dependent on decisions taken by a given consortium on how to continue work started by using the Erasmus+ seed funding.

Jean Monnet Actions

Support for teaching, research, and dialogue on EU integration and European values – from individual modules to Centres of Excellence in all the countries across the world. The scope of cooperation of a given higher education institution within the Jean Monnet Actions varies and should be checked at given institution.
